Doctors / Ärzte
First I have made the doctors in bright, modern colors. But I think they used to be dressed in fancy dark velvet. Then I thought about all the scary instruments they used to work with.
Zuerst hab ich die Ärzte in modernen hellen Farben gemacht. Dann ist mir in den Sinn gekommen, dass die früher in schicken schwarzen Samtkostümen gearbeitet haben. Und dass sie seltsame, angsteinflössende Instrumente hatten.

Drachen / Dragons
Prinz Lamberts Problemlösungsstrategie ist Drachentöten. Ich muss zugeben, dass ich schon sehr lange keine Drachen mehr gezeichnet habe. Es macht mir ein bisschen Angst.
Vielleicht sind alle Drachen unseres Lebens Prinzessinnen, die nur darauf warten uns einmal schön und mutig zu sehen. Vielleicht ist alles Schreckliche im Grunde das Hilflose, das von uns Hilfe will.

Illustration Friday: Skinny
We are two sisters, a journalist and a graphic designer. We are working on a children’s book on eating disorders which mixes classic fairytale aspects with today’s body image problems and issues, thus illustrating that even in the make-believe world of fairytales, not everything is as perfect as it seems.
Our story features two princesses, the younger of whom is praised for her beauty, while the older girl is considered as being only «pretty». Feeling inferior and frustrated by the lack of attention, the older princess develops an eating disorder that includes trying out all sorts of fad diets. Throughout the story, she meets classic fairytale characters like the Frog King, Puss in Boots (albeit in dis-guise) and of course a dragon-slaying Prince Charming – who in turn will find out that there is no such thing as «happily ever after».
