We are two sisters, a journalist and a graphic designer. We are working on a children’s book on eating disorders which mixes classic fairytale aspects with today’s body image problems and issues, thus illustrating that even in the make-believe world of fairytales, not everything is as perfect as it seems.
Our story features two princesses, the younger of whom is praised for her beauty, while the older girl is considered as being only «pretty». Feeling inferior and frustrated by the lack of attention, the older princess develops an eating disorder that includes trying out all sorts of fad diets. Throughout the story, she meets classic fairytale characters like the Frog King, Puss in Boots (albeit in dis-guise) and of course a dragon-slaying Prince Charming – who in turn will find out that there is no such thing as «happily ever after».
